Little Anthony & the Imperials

New Yorkers, Anthony Gourdine, Sammy Strain,
Ernest Wright and Clarence Collins became
“Little Anthony & the Imperials,” the name given to them by
disc jockey Alan Freed as their debut hit,
“Tears On My Pillow,” landed in the top five
of the Hit Parade in 1958.

In 1964 the falsetto voice of Little Anthony sent
“Goin’ Out Of My Head” into the top ten. A year later
“Hurt So Bad” went gold also.  Among nineteen visits to
the Hit Parade were, “Shimmy, Shimmy, Ko-Ko-Bop,”
“I’m On The Outside Looking In,” “Take Me Back” and “I Miss You So.”
"Little Anthony and the Imperials" continue touring
and were inducted into the Vocal Group Hall of Fame in 1999.
