Lloyd Price was born March 9, 1933 at
Kenner, Louisiana, a suburb of New Orleans.
 
In 1952 backed by the Dave Bartholomew Band featuring
Fats Domino on piano, Lloyd’s “Lawdy Miss Clawdy” topped
the R&B charts before he was drafted into the military
to serve in Korea.   
 
On his return in 1957, he formed KRC Records
where “Just Because” returned Lloyd Price to the Hit Parade.  
In 1959, with a run of 21 straight weeks, “Stagger Lee” gave him
his first #1 pop hit. In that same year,“Where Were You On Our
Wedding Day” charted,” followed by “Personality” and
“I’m Gonna Get Married” both selling a million .
 
Among his other hits, “Come Into My Heart,” “Lady Luck,”  
“Question” and “Misty” were pop and R&B successes.
 
His songs have been recorded by dozens of artists
including Elvis Presley, John Lennon and Billy Joel.
“Personality”, which he wrote, has been used in commercials
by General Motors and Kraft Foods.
 
Lloyd Price was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall
of Fame in 1998. Today Price is Founder, President
and CEO of Icon Food Brands which produces Southern inspired
products and markets a restaurant franchise.
