Billy Joe Thomas was born on August 7, 1942 in Hugo,
Oklahoma and grew up in the Houston, Texas area.
After singing in a church choir, he became lead singer
of a local band where he was brought to the attention of
Florence Greenberg of Scepter Records.
Recording “I’m So Lonesome I Could Cry”, B.J. Thomas
started 1966 with a top ten hit. Two years later in 1968
“Hooked On A Feeling” landed in the top five. His first chart
topper was the multi million seller, “Raindrops Keep Falling
On My Head” in 1969-70. The following year “I Just Can’t
Help Believing” reached the top ten and in 1975
“Another Somebody Done Some body Wrong Song”
returned B.J. to the top of the charts at #1.
Among his other chart hits are, “The Eyes Of A New York
Woman”, “Everybody’s Out Of Town”, “Most of All”,
“Mighty Clouds of Joy”, “Rock and Roll Lullaby”
and “Don’t Worry Baby”.
Selling more than 70 million records and a five time Grammy
Award Winner, B.J. Thomas has eleven gold records and two
platinum records to this credit.
B.J. continues to tour both in the US and internationally.
