Edwin John Fisher was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
on August 10, 1928. Winning numerous amateur talent
contests as a high school student he appeared on radio’s
Arthur Godfrey’s Talent Scouts and at eighteen years of age
was a featured vocalist with the Buddy Morrow band.

Signed by RCA Victor, Eddie Fisher’s first big hit, “Thinking of You”
reached the top ten in February, 1951. One year later in February,
1952, “Anytime” also hit the top ten, followed by “I’m Yours”.
“Wish You Were Here” topped the chart and the year ended with
Eddie’s multi million selling, “Lady of Spain”.

Eddie’s “I’m Walking Behind You”, reached #1 in 1953, as did
“Oh My Pa Pa”. The following year “I Need You Now” also hit
the top spot on the Hit Parade. Turn Back the Hands of Time”,
“Tell My Why”, “A Man Chases a Girl, Until She Catches Him”,
“Count Your Blessings”, “Dungaree Doll”, “Heart” and
“Cindy, Oh Cindy” all were hits for Eddie Fisher.

A very popular Fisher had his own variety TV shows in the
50’s and starred in two motion pictures, “Bundle of Joy” in
1956 and “Butterfield 8” in 1960. He has two stars on the
Hollywood Walk of Fame, one for his recording successes
and one for television.
